• Second daughter of Satya Prasad Ray Burman and Namita Ray Burman

1966 – 76
• Early schooling at the Christ Church Girls High School, Kolkata

1977 – 79
• Studied at Kala – Bhavan, Santiniketan

1979- 80
• Studied at the Visual College of Art, Kolkata
• Received Outstanding Merit for Tempera in the Annual Exhibition,
by the College of Visual Arts

1981
• Continues to draw and paint
• Birth of her son Riddhibrata Burman

1983 – 84
• Participated in the National Exhibition, Lalit Kala Akademi,
New Delhi
• Exhibition of works at AIFACS
• Guidance in Print making under Monseuir Ceizerzi, France
• Was part of a Three Person Exhibition at Paris. Worked in
the Graphic Art Workshop, conducted by Paul Lingren

1985 – 86
• Received the National Award from the Government of India
• Participated in the National Exhibition, Lalit Kala Akademi, Kolkata
• Worked in the Graphic Arts Workshop conducted by Prof.
• Krishna Reddy at the Lalit Kala Akademi, Kolkata
• First solo exhibition of works held at the Chitrakoot Art Gallery, Kolkata
• Participated in the Bharat Bhavan Biennale, Bhopal

1987 – 89
• Was awarded the Certificate of Merit, All India Youth Art Exhibition
• Participated at the International Triennial, Intergraphic, Germany
• Participated in an exhibition of ‘Five Women Artists’ to commemorate 300 years of Kolkata
• Was part of a group show titled, ‘Young Faces in Contemporary Eminent Artists of Bengal’, at the Chitrakoot Art Gallery, Kolkata

1990 – 91
• Solo show held at the Chitrakoot Art Gallery, Kolkata ‘Kolkata through the Eyes of Painters’, a group show with the Birla Academy of Art and Culture.
• Participated in the Annual Exhibition of Graphics, Paintings and Sculptures, with Gallery BF–14, Kolkata
• ‘A Tribute to Vincent Van Gogh’, a group show held with Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi

1992 – 93
• ‘The Baijis’, a group show held with the Chitrakoot Art Gallery, Kolkata
• ‘Life-Long’, a group show held at the Emerald Isle, Kolkata
• Solo show of works with the Chitrakoot Art Gallery, Kolkata
• Solo show held with the Pundole Art Gallery, Mumbai

1994 – 96

2003 – 04
• Participated at a workshop in Egypt with ‘Indian Contemporary Artists’, organised by Bayar ABS

• Participated in the Annual Exhibition at the Art Musings Gallery, Mumbai
• Participated in the Annual Show at CIMA Art Gallery titled, Brahma to Bapu, Kolkata

2006

2007 – 08

• Attended Art Camp in Dubai with Gallery 1×1, Dubai
• Undertook collaborative arts work with Renuka Chowdhury, Lata Mangeshkar and Kokilaben Ambani, for the Khushi Foundation, Delhi
• Received the Indian Federation Chamber of Commerce award
• Release of commemorative stamp with her works on Women’s Day, by Government of India
• Travels to Benaras and Khajuraho

2009 – 10
